Event Overview

ALSIS 2011, is again a major satellite event connected to Australia’s pre-eminent biotechnology industry conference, AusBiotech 2011, and will be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Wednesday 19 October.

Last year's summit attracted over 150 investors from around the world to showcase the 40 most promising Australian biotechnology companies actively seeking capital or partnering opportunities.

The audience featured an excellent mix of expertise from national and international investors, including angel investors, venture capitalists, fund managers, investment bankers and representatives from superannuation funds. The audience also included venture capital arms of the major pharmaceutical companies from Australia, Asia Pacific, North America and Europe.

Presenting companies will be a mix of listed companies in late-stage development, private companies with identified product/opportunities and early-stage commercialisation companies from research institutes and universities.

The constructive comments we received last year have been integrated to improve and further shape what promises to be a bigger and better event this year. Some feedback from last year’s international investors included:

"I thoroughly enjoyed the investment summit and enjoyed the format. The program was efficient and comprehensive, and certainly provided me with enough information from each company's presentation to determine which companies I wanted to evaluate further as a potential investment. - Rajeev Shah, RA Capital Management, LLC (USA)

"Coming a long way from Germany and having not too much time on the ground in Australia I very much appreciated the format of the meeting as well as the well prepared and ‘to the point’  presentations at the Australasian Life Sciences Investment Summit 2010". - Dr. Axel Polack, General Partner, TVM Capital GmbH (Germany)

"Being new to the Australian Biotech Scene, I was impressed by the advanced stage of the (clinical) projects of the companies I talked to. The conference was very well organized”. - Dr Ruedi Gygax, Managing Partner, Nextech Invest Ltd (Switzerland)
